This policy explains what personal information The Middle Agent ("we", "us", "our") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to themiddleagent.com and the service on it.
Who we are
The Middle Agent is a website that connects ski & snowboard athletes with the right people at brands, starting in Australia. If you have any questions about your privacy, contact us at hello@themiddleagent.com.
What we collect
When you create an account
- Your name, email address, and a password (your password is encrypted — we never see or store it in plain text).
- Whether you're an athlete or a brand.
When you build an athlete profile
- Details you choose to add: age, sport, disciplines, home mountain, state, bio, years riding, level, follower count, results, current sponsors, what you're looking for, and links to your Instagram/YouTube.
- Photos you upload.
When you build a brand profile
- Brand details: brand name, location, what you make, bio, website, Instagram, and logo.
- Private contact details (a contact name, role, email and phone) used only to route athlete messages to the right person — these are not shown publicly.
If you're under 18
- Your parent or guardian's name and email, so we can seek their consent for your account. See "Younger athletes" below.
Other
- Messages you send through the site.
- Basic technical information needed to run the site securely (for example, a secure sign-in token stored in your browser, and standard server logs from our hosting provider).
How we use your information
- To run the service — create your account, save your profile, and show athlete profiles to brands.
- To let athletes and brands message each other on the platform.
- To keep accounts secure and prevent misuse.
- To contact you about your account or important changes to the service.
What's public and what's private
- Athlete profiles are public. The point of the site is to help brands discover you, so the details and photos on your athlete profile can be seen by others (including anyone you share your profile link with).
- Brand contact details are private. Only the brand can see its own contact details; athletes reach brands through on-site messaging.
- Your password is never visible to us or anyone else.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site:
- Supabase — stores accounts, profiles, and photos securely (data is hosted in Sydney, Australia).
- Netlify — hosts the website.
If you add links to Instagram or YouTube, those are separate services with their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Younger athletes (under 18)
We know a lot of up-and-coming riders are under 18. If you're under 18, we ask for a parent or guardian's consent before your account is active. Parents and guardians can contact us at hello@themiddleagent.com at any time to review, change, or remove their child's information. We're committed to handling young people's information carefully.
Keeping and deleting your information
You can edit your profile at any time while logged in. We keep your information for as long as your account is active. To delete your account and personal information, email us at hello@themiddleagent.com and we'll take care of it.
Your rights
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. To make a request, email hello@themiddleagent.com. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies and tracking
We keep this minimal. To keep you logged in, we store a secure sign-in token in your browser. We do not currently use advertising trackers. If we add analytics in future, we'll update this policy.
Security
We use reputable providers, encrypt passwords, and serve the site over a secure (https) connection. No online service can be 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site grows. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date above.
